At GoKid we like to blog about startups since we are one! We know it can be a tough journey from coming up with a concept to bringing the product to launch – there is so much that needs to happen along the way.

We blog here not just about other startups and entrepreneurship in general, but also about our own journey as a small company that started with just the concept of an app. We talk about our inspiration, how we’ve won various pitch competitions, how we joined accelerator programs (including Techstars) and how that has impacted our learning and development as a company.

What made me start GoKid?

Many times I get asked what made me start GoKid. Four years ago, my husband and I decided it was time to leave New York City. We wanted to raise our kids, as millions before us, in a house in the suburbs. We fell in love with an old farmhouse in Connecticut and moved one […] Read more

Funnily, I wasn’t the one who discovered the show–my 12-year-old daughter, an aspiring baker, loves the show. So, when a couple of weeks ago I learned that GoKid was chosen to become a Techstars company to […] Read more

Can Startups Convince Americans to Carpool?

This week I came across an interesting article questioning if new startups in the carpooling and ridesharing space would convince Americans to carpool. The article compared the European carpooling market for long to mid-distance carpooling with the American market and came to the conclusion that for Americans sharing their car was still an afterthought—mainly because […] Read more

7 takeaways from 2Xin Tech

Yesterday I attended a six-hour long conference on tech and entrepreneurship that was different from any I had been to before. Instead of the usual 90% male 10% female ratio, the floor of the 2Xin Tech conference was filled with women. There were too many to count, but it looked like more than 200 female […] Read more
