The GoKid story is about how a small team of just a few people can grow into an award-winning startup with a product that is used around the world.

GoKid was started with an idea and gradually grew into a small team creating an iPhone app. Now, after a lot of work, participating in an accelerator program, winning awards, and raising investment money our team has grown and our app is available around the world on iPhone, Android and web.

We are proud of the journey we have come on and the hard work it took to get where we are – and this is just the beginning – we have so much more planned. Here you can read our blog posts about the GoKid story and follow along with us on this journey.

A Major GoKid Milestone: Half a Million Carpools

This morning, as every morning, after getting my first coffee, I checked GoKid’s usage stats. I keep a close eye on these to see how many carpools are being created, how many miles parents are saving, and how much CO2 we are helping to reduce through carpooling.   This morning was special: I saw that we […] Read more

Efficient School Transportation as a Traffic Congestion Solution – The GoKid Way

Adapted from an article originally included in the Jefferies Mobility Technology newsletter on November 4 Millennials are redefining how we live as they move increasingly toward shared models for where we reside, how we work, and ways we get around. While shared mobility isn’t a new trend, it has so far been largely focused on […] Read more

How Your Feedback Contributes to GoKid

There’s nothing better than hearing from parents and schools about how GoKid is changing their lives by making their schedules just a little less hectic. As a parent I know how difficult it can be to meet your children’s needs while also balancing the demands of work and life. That’s why I’m thrilled to see […] Read more

2017 in Review

Twelve months are coming to an end. With a number of natural disasters occurring this year – which many scientists tie into climate change – it is rewarding to work for a company that is helping to create sustainable communities while saving energy and helping families with their daily transportation needs. Life in a startup […] Read more

What made me start GoKid?

Many times I get asked what made me start GoKid. Four years ago, my husband and I decided it was time to leave New York City. We wanted to raise our kids, as millions before us, in a house in the suburbs. We fell in love with an old farmhouse in Connecticut and moved one […] Read more

Week 2 at Techstars – Of Neighbors and Mentors

Know thy neighbors Week 2 here in the Detroit, Techstars Mobility 2016 class. My mental map of Detroit is gradually filling in as I have more opportunity to explore this city. Although it has shrunk from 2 million citizens to a mere 500,000, there are many thriving areas and neighborhoods with cool restaurants and shops. Fellow […] Read more

Week 1 of Techstars Mobility

One of my favorite new things to do with my two girls is to watch Shark Tank on Sunday nights. Funnily, I wasn’t the one who discovered the show–my 12-year-old daughter, an aspiring baker, loves the show. So, when a couple of weeks ago I learned that GoKid was chosen to become a Techstars company to […] Read more

Leaving New York and learning to carpool

We arrived in New York City with one very new baby and a large dog. Eleven years later we left with three school age children and a medium size dog. Living in New York was an exhilarating challenge. Every outing held the possibility of something wonderful, the unexpected street fair, the teenage boys break dancing […] Read more

Moving to Suburbia and Carpooling Kids to School

It’s been 2 years since I left New York City with my family. My younger daughter had been begging for a yard (and a dog) forever and threatened to move to any random place we vacationed that featured outdoor space. As many New Yorkers, we were still renting, but after 8 years of repainting and […] Read more
